Welcome to the new New Mexico NWTF web page!

For those of you who are not familiar with the National Wild Turkey Federation chapter system in New Mexico, let me take a moment to introduce all of us. New Mexico has fourteen local chapters of the NWTF scattered across the state. Chapters exist in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Roswell, Belen/Los Lunas, Farmington, Clovis, Socorro, Las Alamos, Alamogordo, Raton, and Taos.

If you live in or near one of these communities, you are welcome to participate in chapter activities. If you live in another community in the state that does not have a local chapter, and you have a real interest in wild turkeys, we encourage you to look into starting a chapter in your town. By setting up an organizational meeting and then submitting a short article about the meeting in your local paper, you may find that there are a number of wild turkey enthusiasts in your area.   Learn More!

The Middle Rio Grande Chapter of NWTF has scheduled the following habitat improvement projects for 2009:

Crosby Mountain Wildlife Water Replacement - Magdalena Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest (Crosby Mountains near Datil, NM), on June 13, 2009.  A metal water catchment, drinker, and exclosure fence will be installed.

West Canyon Turkey Water - Socorro District, Bureau of Land Management, near Pelona Mountain.  A water holding structure will be installed to provide permanent water for turkeys and other wildlife.  Project date is July 25.
